A Vision to Serve Society
Thakershy Charitable Trust was established on 2nd December 1978 with the vision of providing healthcare support to people from all sections of society, especially the poor and underprivileged. The trust was founded by Shri Navnitbhai Thakershy in memory of his father Shri Thakershybhai Lallubhai Shah, after whom the Trust is named. Since then, the Trust has been committed to providing affordable healthcare and serving the community with compassion.
A Mission Born to Serve Society
To fulfill our mission of providing accessible and quality medical care, a plot of land measuring around 2400 square yards was generously donated by the Shri Jethalal Amrutlal Patel Public Charitable Trust through the efforts of advocate Shri Indravadan M. Nanavati.
This invaluable contribution helped lay the foundation for establishing a charitable hospital dedicated to serving the community and delivering compassionate healthcare to thousands of patients every year.
Beginning of Medical Services
On 15th May 1983, the Trust established its hospital in Ahmedabad to provide affordable medical services to the community. Starting with a small infrastructure, the hospital gradually expanded its facilities and services to meet the growing healthcare needs of society.
Over the years, the hospital has treated thousands of patients and provided essential healthcare services to people from all backgrounds.
2000 to 2023 : Advancing Towards Modern Healthcare
Hospital Renamed with Renewed Vision
In 2000, the hospital was renamed Sushri Jasumatiben S. Surti Charitable General Hospital following a generous contribution, marking a new chapter in its journey of service and growth.
COVID Service & Reconstruction Initiative
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Trust actively stepped forward to support the community by providing medical care, food, and essential services, operating multiple COVID care centers for patients in need.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Trust rose to the challenge with unwavering dedication, stepping forward to support the community during one of the most critical global health crises. It played a vital role by providing timely medical care, distributing food, and ensuring access to essential services for those affected. Multiple COVID care centers were established and efficiently managed to treat patients with compassion and urgency. Despite the risks and uncertainties, the Trust’s team worked tirelessly on the front lines, demonstrating courage, responsibility, and a deep commitment to saving lives and serving society in its time of greatest need.
A New Hospital Project Takes Shape
By 2023, the Trust moved forward with its ambitious new hospital project, aiming to develop a multi-storey, modern healthcare facility equipped with advanced medical infrastructure and services.

In 2025, the Trust successfully completed the revamp of JS Hospital, transforming it into a modern healthcare facility with improved infrastructure and enhanced patient care services.
